Safety Tips For Repairing Home Appliances

Handicap Ramp Ground Breaking Ceremony by Villa Victoria Center for the Arts

My family, a very LARGE family, ventured to Baltimore to visit their much talked about Aquarium. Ticket prices are around $22 for adults and children ages 3 to 11 are around $13. Children 3 and under are admitted for free. Sometimes, families are not admitted when they purchase tickets during times of big crowds (the time you can enter will be printed on your ticket). We got there fairly early on a weekday, so we were admitted immediately.

The first thing I notices is that strollers are not allowed inside the aquarium. There is a stroller check in near the front entrance. It is free to check your stroller. Our children are a bit older, so strollers aren't used very often, but I pitied the families with smaller children and babies in tow. My sister-in-law had to carry around her 7 month old daughter for 3 hours, and it became tedious at times.

The first exhibit we found inside the Aquarium was the stingray exhibit. The kids were entranced by the 260,000 gallon pool filled with stingrays. We got to see a diver in the tank, feeding the stingrays. In that tank was a green sea turtle that was missing his front flipper. According to the Aquarium, he was rescued in New York, and the flipper was severely infected, so it was amputated to save his life. He now happily swims along with the rays in the large pool.

We moved along to the massive fish displays. This one was called Maryland: Mountains to the Seas and contained fish and other species native to Maryland's waters. I must say that the display cases for the fish were a bit disappointing; all the fish were in small, encased tanks, and no more than 10 people could fit in front of a tank at a time. We were a group of 18, so it took a while for everyone to be able to see the different displays, and it felt like we could only glance at the displays before we had to move on for the next group to see the displays. Although not all the fish were "beautiful", some of the displays were very interesting. My children got to see many fish that normally wouldn't be seen at most aquariums. I will say, though, that there is an overabundance of species of catfish, and after a while, I was ready to move on from the many, many catfish I had seen. There was another area called Surviving Through Adaptation. This display was all about how animals adapt for survival. The children had an enjoyable time at the stone fish display, attempting to locate the fish, as stonefish beautifully blend in with the rocks in their surroundings. We also got to see a giant octopus slime around the tank.

We stopped for lunch at the Aquarium Café, and we were shocked at the overpriced food. It cost us $35 for my family of 5 to eat a mediocre meal, and that was because they had a "special" that my husband and I decided to eat just to save us from paying $9 for a burger combo.

After lunch, we moved on to the shark display. My children were thrilled with the Aquarium's display. The shark tank was basically a circular tank you walked around on a ramp to see. It was really dark in the shark area. There were nurse sharks, sandbar sharks, saw sharks and the sand tiger sharks. I was a little disappointed in the lack of selection, as it seemed they only had a handful of species, but I suppose that trapping a shark for the purpose of placing it in an aquarium is not as easy a task as one would think. The kids, though, were entranced. We got to see a shark feeding (or an attempt at it, as the sawshark turned its nose up at the fish on a stick).

The Atlantic Coral Reef was one of my favorite displays at the Aquarium! This also was a circular tank, but it was brilliantly lit and the abundance of fish amazed us all. The puffer fish, the most massive one we'd ever seen, was a huge hit! We watched, in a trance, as many, many different schools of fish swam back and forth.

We moved along to the Tropical Rain Forest exhibit, which mostly included birds. We were entertained by one particular bird's loud call. The birds were colorful and fascinating to watch. The display also included tarantulas (yuck!) and frogs native to the Tropical Rain Forest. We walked out of the Tropical Rain Forest display to see the various frogs on display. There were poisonous and non-poisonous frogs on display.

The last display we approached at the Aquarium (due to 12 tired children) was Animal Planet Australia. They displayed fish found in Australia, including a lungfish. A lungfish can breathe on land for up to three days, which is good for them during droughts that are common in parts of Australia. There were freshwater crocodiles, bats(!), turtles, and a beautiful waterfall display upon entrance.

Of course, we had to visit the Aquarium Gift Shop so the children could take home a memento of their fun day at the National Aquarium of Baltimore. Stuffed animals at the gift shop are reasonably priced, and it seems they had a vast number to choose from, so no one takes home the exact same toy!

A few more comments: The only way up to the displays was via escalator, which is really fun when you have a five and three year old who are deathly afraid of escalators. There are elevators if you want to go down instead of up, but there are signs saying this is for handicap "only". We looked for stairways, but didn't see any. And, if you park in the Aquarium parking lot, be prepared to pay $21 for parking.

All in all, the family had a great time, especially the children. The parents noticed the overcrowding problem, along with the lack of ability to exit a floor to go to a lower one, along with the mediocre yet overpriced food in the Aquarium Café.

Pazoo, Inc. (PZOO) - What Makes Penny Stocks Such A Fantastic Investment? - Penny Stock Symbol Potg

It may seem a little outrageous, but with the recent craze of people entering into penny stock investing; alot of regular, everyday folks have been generating some serious coin from only 1 or 2 trades - buying penny stocks that all cost less than a share to get.

I know, it does seem a little too fantastic to be true, but don't think for a moment that it's not taking place basically every day. You can find tons of companies whose stock price had dipped to basically pennies per share and in some circumstances fractions of a penny per share, that suddenly spiked to 2, 3 or (seriously) 10 or 20 times that price - literally in days.

It's still hard to believe right?? It only takes a second to look up one of the common occurrences in the penny stock market - Sunpeaks Ventures, Inc.. (SNPK). Try typing the ticker symbol into almost any financial site, Take a look at their historical charts for the previous 90 days or so; you'll notice right off that this company's stock was only $.43 or 43 cents a share around mid March, then jumped as high as .40 in only a couple of weeks. Doesn't necessarily take a rocket scientist to see that if we'd invested 0 it would have increased to roughly 00 in just a couple weeks time. For this very factor people have been in a position to quit their day jobs to trade 1 or 2 penny stocks a month, while having the capability to pay all their bills and live in comfort.

With just a little research and a little bit of keeping your ear to the ground, you can make fantastic profits from penny stock investing; and it's not your standard long term investment approach like when investing in blue chip kind of stocks. The big stock investors can get a %5 increase in a week's time ( This is a good week for them), but if you've only got 0 to spend - making in a week is not really cause to jump up and down... best you can do with that type of gain is go to a movie... by yourself!

Just like any investment, even penny stock investing has risks, but think of this: if you can invest $500 in a penny stock and potentially turn that small investment into thousands within weeks (and I don't mean 52 weeks) - the risk/reward ratio weighs extremely in your benefit. On the other hand, you could invest in nice "safe" blue chip companies and maybe see a gain of a couple hundred bucks a year.. that's if you don't invest in top of the line blue chips like Tyco, Enron or Adelphia...lol.

Right now, we are looking a company known as Pazoo, Inc. (PZOO). This particular stock went from dormant to trading over 1 million shares as of last Thursday. The price continued constant all day on Thursday, even with the heavy trading (staying at $.10 per share), but on Friday - that started to change a bit (with the closing price at $.135 - a 35% gain in One day). As of this writing, the stock is continuing to climb today (7/23/12) climbing to just under $.15 per share. The beauty of this company is that it has basic principles; a good team, good product mix and revenue!

Ok, so about 3 days ago me and my wife had our washer break down. Oh no, the world was about to end and we were right at laundry day. Being the hard working fast paced people we are... well we sort of wait till the last minute to do laundry. So we called around and found the place that could work on our washer. Please note that you should take time on a phone call and make sure they know your appliance brand. Also make sure to be clear about prices, this is very important.

So we found a repair shop that could fix our Maytag Neptune. Enter 123 appliance Repair. We called them, the person who received our call was prompt and courteous. The man on the phone asked the usual information what type of washer we had and what was wrong. After explaining this information he said the times they could come out to look at it and fix it. We set up the time and now all we had to do was wait till bout 4 o'clock.

So I dropped my wife off at work and came home waited till 4 o'clock. Then came a prompt knock on the door a clean cut, courteous, workman like dressed man stood at my door and introduced himself. After the usual greetings, I showed him where the washer was and left him to his business.

After he was done he came back explained that my dryer had had the cord damaged when I moved. He then told me he had put a new one on and demonstrated that it was working. At this point came the worst part the bill, but to my surprise it was actually decent about a hours worth of labor and the part came up to 67 dollars. Trust me that is definitely a good price for same day service. I give 123 Appliance Repair a five star rating. They can service almost anything are prompt, courteous, well groomed, and well most of all they fixed the problem. I would recommend them to anyone.

Things To Do That Will Raise Your House's Value

Appliance Repair In Gilbert by aabcosvc

Sears and the Environmental Protection Agency have announced that the retailer will be working with the EPA to offer recycling services for refrigerators and freezers. Sears is joining the EPA's Responsible Appliance Disposal (RAD) program, an effort to properly and safely take care of appliances that contain chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) which destroy ozone and trap greenhouse gases in our atmosphere.

EPA Administrator Stephen Johnson stated in the release, "When consumers buy new fridges and freezers from Sears, they can rest assured that the ozone-depleting chemicals in their old appliances will be disposed of properly." Mark Good, the general manager of Sears Home Services, the division of the company that will be in charge of the recycling program, made a similar statement. "Sears Home Services is excited about being the first retailer to partner with the EPA in its Responsible Appliance Disposal Program." He continued by explaining that Sears led the industry in developing energy-efficient appliances so the recycling program was a "natural extension of that."

The RAD program will ensure that refrigerants and other chemicals involved in the foam that insulates refrigerators and freezers will be recovered in a safe manner that will prevent CFCs and HFCs from escaping and damaging the environment. Additionally, the RAD program will also recycle or dispose of other substances that may be harmful if released, such as mercury, oil, and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). PCBs are known carcinogens that do not break down naturally in the environment.

The RAD program is just one of several partnerships between the EPA and retailers and manufacturers to protect the ozone layer. Another program is the GreenChill Program, which is a partnership with the supermarket industry to adopt new advanced refrigeration technologies. The goals of the GreenChill program are much the same as the RAD program, in that CFCs, HFCs and greenhouse gases may be mitigated through safer handling and more responsible stewardship. CFCs can break down the ozone molecule, which in turn allows more ultraviolet radiation to reach the Earth. The increased UV rays increase the incidence of skin cancer, as well as harming crops and marine life.

The EPA estimates that over ten million refrigerators and freezers are disposed of every year. The RAD partnership hopes to take care of at least one million of those. In addition to refrigerators and freezers, window air-conditioning units and dehumidifiers also contain ozone-depleting substances (ODS). The EPA is inviting other businesses to join the RAD program, offering assistance in recycling technologies as well as recognition for the effort.

Read labels carefully when you are deciding which paint is best for your project. If you are painting appliance that generates heat, please make sure that you get the correct paint for heat resistance.
